To start this off, we have Cave Story... My personal fav! :P
Ever since the age of 12, I've been forever attached to Cave Story and other works made by Studio Pixel.
There's a lot of things about Cave Story I like. How moddable it is, the story and effort put behind it, how it still stands, etc etc.
Although my memories of this game may have unfortunately been tainted due to abusive memories, I still love this game to this day..
While Undertale isn't my cup of tea (the message could have been executed better), I do however like some of Toby Fox's works, one of which is the infamous Halloween Hack.
The atmosphere, theme, and grimdark look is one of the things that influenced the game's atmosphere and setting.
Of course, the ROM hack was pretty edgy, but that doesn't excuse the fact that there was a charm behind it..
While I do enjoy playing a lot of RPGs that catch my interest, this game has personally been stuck in my head since my teen years.
OFF were one of the many important inspirations for this fangame, as it was what gave me the idea of adding the ATB system in a battle minigame.
Even the oldest lost builds of this fangame (from 1.0 to 5.2) showed a clear influence from OFF.
The story isn't for everyone else (especially during this time period), but it's importance to the RPG Maker scene is still undeniable.
Alright, let's get straight to the point: Despite how aged it is, I give great credit to this little shitpost game for inspiring me to make Doukutsu fangames on RPG Maker.
I know others may have done something like that before, but I really don't know if Alex would have existed without this game.
(oh yeah shoutouts to this fangame for acknowledging OMORI before it was even released years later)
